Getting Rid of One of my Insecurities, Dandruff

When I entered college, I lacked the confidence to face people. In fact, I made few friends back then. Why? I was so shy, to the point that I just wanted to be alone. I felt like I had a personality problem, plus, I had a really bad case of dandruff. Dandruff was just one of my greatest insecurities in those days, and I can say that I lost confidence because of it.

I had the worst dandruff. It was flaky and big. Whenever I scratched my head, it looked like sand was falling down from my hair. It was so embarrassing for friends to see the snowy pieces shedding from my scalp; I couldn't bear being told that I had some on my shoulders. I also couldn't move much, because I was worried about the dandruff falling from my hair.
To sum it up, I found it extremely hard to move and to live with dandruff. It really affected my lifestyle and also my well-being.

In response, I went to some extreme ends to cure my dandruff problem. But I didn't have to go far to find a solution. One day, I attended an event in Watsons where the topic centered on hair problems. Afterward, they gave us a loot bag full of hair products. Among the items inside was a bottle of Moringa-O2 shampoo and conditioner.

FRESH NEW LOOK OF SBC BGC

There has always been an intrinsic connection between art and coffee often. Coffee, just like art, is a stimulant—it perks up the senses and refreshes the mind. Art, just like coffee, offers a great way to “start fresh,” whether it’s an inspiring song that’s heard first thing in the morning or a vibrant painting that lifts us out of the doldrums in the middle of a tough week.

SBC further explores the bond between coffee and art with the launch of The SBC Perkspective, a series of quarterly pocket events that will offer talks, workshops, and informal meet-ups aimed at giving a fresh perspective on how we create and view art, music, photography and other creative processes. Through this series, SBC is recreated into a space that not only offers great coffee and tasty food, but a go-to place for the community to come together, to be inspired and to conspire, and to come up with novel ideas and a new outlook on things. 

For the first run of The SBC Perkspective, SBC enlisted emerging graphic artist and muralist Anina Rubio to turn the glass windows of its BGC branch into a colorful, eye-catching and inspiring backdrop that can whet both our palates and intellectual palettes.

Rubio, who has used her talent to liven up the walls of retail venues and public spaces across the city, brightened up SBC’s BGC branch with her big, bold floral signatures awashed in brilliant, mood-lifting hues. 


“I’m very much inspired by nature. You can see it in 98 percent of my artworks. This mural is very personal because I start my day with a shot of espresso or an Iced Americano, and I also have a backyard full of plants, which is a similar setting to what you have here at SBC BGC,” Rubio said during the live painting event-slash-workshop attended by street art fans and bloggers. “Sometimes work gets toxic, sometimes our environment gets toxic. We all want a breather and for me the best way to do that, to start fresh, is to embrace nature more—better if you’re sipping a good cup of coffee.”



Anina’s panoramic piece also inspired the afternoon’s guests to create their own art on SBC’s Premium Tumblers. The workshop attendees happily decorated their metal canvases while sipping SBCs freshly brewed coffee and refreshing iced tea, and munching on freshly made Chunky Tuna or Ham, Bacon and Egg sandwiches from the kitchen.

I created 5 outfits that you should consider having in your closet this summer!

When describing my style, I usually opt to look classy even in the simplest clothes in my closet. I always choose a look that reflects my personality. These days, you really have to blend in this summer. I found an oversized shirt at SM Youth. The quality is really nice which I fell in love with. I really don't have one like this in my closet and now I'm planning to get more. I feel so comfortable wearing this in a 36*C temperature. The New Tokyo Tokyo Burgers

I have never been a fan of burgers, because I really find them hassle to eat. Yes, I'm an OC type of person. But I have exceptions! Especially if a burger is really delicious like the New Signature Burger Series from Tokyo Tokyo! 

I love how Tokyo Tokyo continues to reinvent classic dishes. I admit, I'm not adventurous when it comes to food. I only eat what I have tried. But these Japanese burgers really got my Filipino taste buds! They are awesome!


Aside from the Wagyu cheese Burgers, Tokyo Tokyo also introduces the Mozza Furai Wagyu Burger, which is my personal favorite and the Best Chicken Teriyaki Burger which is also my favorite! I can say both of them are really good. 

For only P195 yep! You read it right! You can experience the gooeyness of mozzarella patty coated in Japanese crumbs in the Mozza Furrai Wagyu Burger layered with Sriracha mayo, a bed of lettuce, Wagyu beef patty, sliced cheese and Mozzarella patty covered in a cheese-flavored batter goodness sandwiched in a soft brioche bun. It is a new unique take on the typical cheeseburger that you certainly need to try. I'm actually craving for it while typing this! I swear you must try this one. I’m a straightforward type of person and would never tell it’s my favorite unless it’s really good!

ROAD TO SVELTI

I've had bad acne since my 2nd year in highschool, and I have tried different acne-fighting products which were recommended by family and friends, while some were just products I've seen on television or social media. I think I have used almost a hundred products just to get rid of my acne and I even asked my parents if I could get a facial but they thought back then that I was still too young to have one.

When I finally reached college, I've decided to push thru with the facial in a newly opened derma clinic near my school - that was my first time. I bought all the expensive topical medicines from their clinic which they recommended for my acne. I tried it for about a month but saw no improvement, it even got worse. After seeing the results, I went to different derma clinics, and just like the first experience, I bought all recommended products but I ended up with the same negative result.

My college life was completely a burden, there goes my college shenanigans and then there's my bad acne. I even once decided to just hide my acne using band-aid just so I wouldn't see them. They're just adding the stress I'm getting from school.  

I had so much acne from my sophomore year 'til college that left my skin with lots of pimple marks and never ending active acne. Because of these, I had to use cosmetic products to cover them. Well, yeah it faded but its hard to conceal. I can still see bumps on my face - I swear, my face before was the worst. 

Being a blogger, its hard for me to attend events with that kind of condition. I really had to fully cover my face with foundations and concealers. Almost 3-4 layers just to have that flawless face but since we're in a tropical country and I have an oily skin, I really had to do retouch every hour because I didn't want people to see how bad my face was. It was hard. I had to spend 1-2 hours just to prep up my skin. Worst! 

I am really thankful for what SVELTI did to me. They truly changed my life. From 1-2 hours of face preparation, I'm now just down to 5 minutes. From 3-4 layers of concealers and foundations, I'm now just using a tinted sunscreen which is good for the skin. BAI HOTEL CEBU

Its my first time in Cebu and I stayed in this world class hotel, Bai Hotel. I can say that this hotel has the finest architecture, interior, furnitures, food, and their staff was really accommodating.

Never knew that my stay would be this smooth and relaxing. It felt like I'm in my own house. All things I needed while staying was there, and I like it. I had no worries when I was staying here. 

I also love their wide selection of food from breakfast to dinner. They got restaurants inside the hotel for your choices of food. The steak was really good! 

Also loved the pool area that has the beautiful view of the whole Mandaue City. The hotel is accessible from the airport. You can ride a Grab or Uber or you may request a service from the hotel. 


My Cebu trip was great and I am really thankful to Bai Hotel Cebu for making this a page in my life. I am recommending this hotel when you're in Cebu! They got you!

Jessica Palmiano, Nessotech has diversified with the recent establishment of Togetech whose mandate is the creation of mobile applications that directly serve the customers,  which includes retail and peer-to-peer client.
Togetech envisions itself to be a provider of applications geared towards connectivity, financial inclusion, and convenience of customers. Togetech initially launched the Moneygment -app, which is a payments solutions mobile app providing remittance for government contributions and loans, as well as computation, filing and tax payments.
The founders of Moneygment understand the importance of these contributions, especially to the OFWs and their families that they have been serving for the past few years. Thisinspired them to work continuously in improving their systems in order to provide the most up-to-date services and reports to their customers. They are aware of the difficulties regarding delays in processing and unposted transactions causing benefits to be delayed as well. That is why they developed the Moneygment app that the customers can easily access through their mobile devices, and hence, they can immediately generate reports and get updates about their transactions.
Moneygment caters as well to the growing number of self-employed individuals, freelancers, homemakers paying for the mandatory contributions of their kasambahays or household help, and micro and small enterprises to make paying and filing taxes and government contributions easy and convenient.

The Moneygment  app is available for download on Android via the Play Store and soon on IOS.  Through this mobile application, customers can enjoy the convenience of paying for their government contributions anytime from wherever they are.  The customers can transfer payments through Moneygment accredited partners without the need for owning a bank account.
Togetech will continuously integrate with partner institutions such as insurance companies, micro-finance and government institutions, in order to provide customers with the convenience in paying for these types of contributions, and achieve real-time posting of payments. Reports are also made available in every step of the process.
Further, it will strive to provide for financial inclusion through its rewards system and information campaigns, making it easy for customers to know current updates by our partner agencies.
Togetech will also be launching other applications catering to this segment so as to achieve its goals in providing a facility for easy payment solutions for basic life requirements and to help “future-proof” the consumers that will further improve the standard of living of every Filipino, driving the society forward.
